The winter months are perfect for cozying up in front of a fire, sipping on some mulled wine, and decking those halls to get yourself full of holiday cheer! But I know not many of us have the time to go all out with our holiday home décor, so this week I’m sharing five simple ways to get your home from Scroogefest to jingling all the way!

Holiday Home Décor Idea #1: The Personalized Christmas Tree

I was watching television a few days ago and a Christmas commercial came on.

The tree was the traditional setup- red and silver bobbles with some red and green plaid ribbon.

Absolutely no personality!

I highly recommend you add a bit of your own style into your tree.

We’re talking from the skirt to the topper!

I’m all about starting with a layer of basic ornaments in a color scheme that goes with my home (that’s pink and minty teals) and then adding in some of those fun ornaments that represent my family.

We have Star Wars, Star Trek, and plenty of Doctor Who, with a dash of macarons, pretty birds, champagne bottles, and a corgi dog that looks just like my Mr. Darcy.

Holiday Home Décor Idea #2: The Create-a-Cocktail Bar

Want to add to your holiday décor and make your guests feel at home?

Nothing is worse than having to ask the hostess for another drink.

I often won’t because I know she’s very busy.

So why not create a bar setup, either on a buffet, credenza, or bar cart, so your guests have exactly what they need to refill.

My go-to, easy cocktail in a dash of Peach Raspberry Grand Marnier topped off with sparkling wine or champagne. So easy to just put the bottles out for others!

And don’t forget the non-alcoholic beverages as well.

You can have tea, water, coffee, eggnog. The possibilities are endless!

But to make things easy on yourself, create a simple beverage menu, maybe two cocktails, water, and tea.

Holiday Home Décor Idea #3: The Simple Centerpiece

Centerpieces don’t have to be complicated!

All you need is a focal point and a bit of filler.

My simple solution is a putz house, some bottle brush trees, fake snow, and some round traditional Christmas ornaments.

If you really want to have some fun with your family, you can make your own putz house village, or you can buy them already made.

And depending on the length of your table, you may need a few houses or just one.

First layer on the fake snow. (You may want to skip this step depending on your table. Mine is reclaimed wood, so that would be a mess trying to get the snow out of the crevices.)

Then place your house in the center.

Add in trees and a few ornaments here and there to fill in some space.

Voila! A beautiful centerpiece!

Not wanting to spend a lot of cash on one of those beautiful putz houses? You can always swap that out for some vases with flowers. Still gorgeous!

Holiday Home Décor Idea #4: Sophisticated Gift Giving

You don’t need to use the traditional red and green Christmas wrapping paper with Santas and candy canes if you don’t want to (and if you do it’s totally cool!).

You don’t even need to use holiday wrapping paper!

You know that color scheme you used for your tree?

Stick to it with your wrapping paper!

Maybe that means you use butcher paper and gold ribbon!

Or pink and gold paper with a rustic twine.

Or a wilder color scheme of green, yellow, orange, and magenta because you’ve decided to have a Boho holiday.

Have fun and be creative with your packaging!

Holiday Home Décor Idea #5: The Forest Mantle

Remember those bottle brush trees that you used for your centerpiece?

Well, you’re going to need more of them! Or glass, or glitter- your choice!

An easy way to set up your mantle for the seasons is to create a forest of colorful trees of various shades and heights.

You can go rainbow if your décor allows for it, you can choose a few colors to tie the look together, or you can choose to go for one color in varying shades, like all pinks and reds, or all teals and blues.

For a more maximalist approach, create a thicket of trees. Or you can go minimalist and do a simple line across your mantle.

Either way: easy, customizable for your color scheme, and very chic!

And that’s exactly what your holiday décor should be- easy and doable with what you already have going on! Here’s hoping that these quick and easy tips make your winter gatherings chic and polished and reduces your overwhelm!
