This last week the design world lost one of it’s greatest, most inspiring ladies, Kate Spade. I can’t remember the last time I was truly shocked and saddened by the death of someone I’ve never met, and I know many others that were as well. So this week I thought I would pay a tribute to the lady that time and time again, my clients call to as their design muse. Here are six steps you can take to have quick, curious, playful, and strong Kate Spade inspired home office.
There's a trend going around these days that moms can;t have glamorous homes. Family-friendly home decor brings upon images of oatmeal microfiber couches with faux brown leather trim. Well most of my online interior design clients are moms, and we don't go anywhere near that look. I wanted to bust the myth that a glamorously family-friendly living room is unattainable.
Oh, how some interior designers hate us eDesigners. I’ve seen so many people in my industry shunning us lowly online designers lately, that it actually makes me laugh. But instead of trying to convince them that they need to get with the times, I thought I’d spend some time this week shedding some light on what eDesign really is and busting all the virtual design myths that these other designers hope you believe. (But you won’t- you’re too smart for that!)

This weekend I did something that I put off for a long time- I threw away all of my design school materials. They were taking up space and I didn’t need them anymore. And while I thought it would be hard getting rid of hours of work and thousands of dollars of supplies, I realized that the six year journey I took to heal from my mother’s death wasn’t about the materials I had left, or the pretty presentation boards in my office taking up way too much room. It was about what I learned along the way, and now I’m sharing it with you. So here are my lessons from interior design school.
